Gum disease causes a buildup of bacteria between the teeth and gums. Treatment typically involves clearing the buildup at the root of the teeth through deep cleaning like scaling and root planing. We may also suggest a specific toothpaste and mouth rinse or prescribe antibiotics to fight infections.
